The following is a list of several useful tips for Windows Vista users. You can learn more about these tips and many more tips in our Phoenix Windows Vista training course.
These tips are straightforward and easy to do for novice PC users.
Consolidate space on your hard-drive by creating a partition. Windows Vista allows users to create a partition for storing specific files; e.g. photos and videos. The benefit to splitting up your hard-drive is to allow your computer to run more efficiently and often faster. Locate this tool by accessing the Vista Computer Management control, found in the Administrative Tools Control Panel.
Fax from your Windows Vista PC. Use Vista’s built-in Fax and Scan utility to send documents to a fax machine, or to scan pictures to save on your partitioned hard-drive. This is a major advantage for small start-up companies looking to save money on office equipment.
Quickly lock your PC by adding a shortcut to your desktop. Right-click on an empty space and select New shortcut. In the space provided, type (or copy and paste): rundll32.exe user32.dll , LockWorkStation (be careful to type exactly what is seen, note the space before and after the comma). Name your new shortcut and simply double click on the new desktop icon to lock your PC.
Perhaps you don’t want to type your logon information every time your PC starts-up or is taken out of screensaver mode. Simply type (or copy and paste): netplwiz into the Start menu search box, then uncheck the box that reads Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.
